The United States leads the world in medical research, and Americans have gotten the payoff for decades.
Thanks to American research funded by the government, several types of cancer that used to be death sentences are now survivable and more progress comes every year. Diabetes can be treated effectively and a cure is around the corner. Alzheimer’s has two treatments that can slow the disease down in many people, and more hope comes every year.
The smartest minds from across the globe have flocked here to lead all of this research. But progress will stall if we don’t continue to invest.
Severe cuts to NIH, FDA, and the broader medical research infrastructure are leading to the loss of innovation, talent, efficiency, and ultimately, progress. But it's not too late.
