As Government Reopens, United for Cures Urges Congress to Protect Lifesaving Medical Research
WASHINGTON, DC (November 12, 2025) – United for Cures, a collaborative of patients and patient advocacy organizations, issued the following statement on the reopening of the federal government and the urgent need to protect funding for lifesaving medical research that leads to breakthrough treatments and cures:
“As the federal government reopens, Congress must protect funding for lifesaving medical research and breakthrough cures,” said Russ Paulsen, leader of United for Cures. “Robust and predictable funding is essential to ensure continued progress toward new treatments and cures that millions of Americans are counting on. Congress needs to fund this work at the levels proposed and passed on a bipartisan basis by the Senate Appropriations Committee. America’s leadership in the field of medical research—and the lives of patients today and in the future—depends on it.”
