New Poll Shows Strong Support for Medical Research Funding

WASHINGTON (July 24, 2025) – We are excited to share the results of new national polling that demonstrates overwhelming public support for preserving and increasing federal funding for medical research.

According to the latest survey:

  • 95% of voters say it is important for the United States to be a global leader in medical research, with support consistent across party lines, including 97% of Republicans, 95% of Democrats, and 90% of Independents.

  • Nearly two-thirds (65%) initially oppose the proposed $20 billion cut to the federal medical research budget, with opposition rising to 74% after hearing what’s at stake.

  • Support crosses political lines, with bipartisan majorities in favor.

  • The public rejects proposals to cut funding for science and health agencies and believes continued investment is critical for medical advancement and maintaining U.S. leadership in scientific innovation.

These findings underscore the importance Americans place on medical research and its role in improving health, driving economic growth, and ensuring the U.S. remains a global leader in science and technology.
