WASHINGTON (August 02, 2026) – United for Cures, a collaborative network of patient advocacy organizations, today applauded Senate leadership and Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Susan Collins (R-ME) and Vice Chair Patty Murray (D-WA) for including language in the newly-released continuing resolution (CR) that would pause a proposed Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Uniform Guidance rule that would dramatically overhaul federal grant rules.

United for Cures Executive Director Erika Sward said, “Senate leadership, Chair Collins, and Vice Chair Murray did right by patients by including language to pause the Uniform Guidance in the bipartisan CR. If not stopped, this proposed OMB rule will overhaul federal grant rules and create uncertainty for federally funded research, making it harder to sustain lifesaving research and promising clinical trials. Now it’s time for the full Senate to act. Americans are counting on leaders in Washington to give patients and families the chance at a cure they’ve been waiting for.”
